AIM SYNC - ONE WEEK TO GO -
EVENT PREVIEW

There's now just one week to go until the UK's global sync conference and marketplace, AIM Sync, takes place on Thursday 11 Feb. With the full line-up now announced, we're taking you through the highlights of this specialist event's speakers, panels, listening sessions, one-on-one networking and much more! Tickets are free for Members and just £50 for non-members. Sign up and check out the full schedule here.

We've got a huge range of speakers including world-leading music supervisors and sync experts from the independent music community such as: AIM, Air Edel, BT Sport, Cooking Vinyl, Domino Publishing, Manners McDade, Mute, Ninja Tune, PPL, Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, TikTok, and Warp Records & Publishing, plus artists and industry figures such as Paulette Long OBE, Timothy Waldron (Courier Club) and reggae legend Dennis Bovell.

Kicking the day off, AIM Sync always starts with a welcome from AIM's CEO swiftly followed by a sync market round-up from one of the leading experts within our Membership. This year Isobel Palos, Head of Sync at Ninja Tune will take a look back over the last year and share knowledge from her fifteen years of experience in sync to set out her vision of the key opportunities and challenges for us all.

Shortly after, the Grandmaster of Sync, David McGinnis (Mute Song), will take viewers through the need-to-know details and techniques of sync negotiations, followed by a deep-dive into the evolving opportunities for sync in the world of gaming from speakers including Timothy Waldron, Founder of virtual minecraft music festival 'Block By Block West', plus Renee Brodeur, Co-Manager of Diplo, who held a residency in the game Fortnite.

Case studies will be presented by the music teams behind two of the most critically acclaimed series of recent times - 'Small Axe', the BBC's anthology film series of love letters to Black resilience in London's West Indian community directed by Academy Award winner, Steve McQueen, and one of the UK's most outstanding breakthrough television series of 2020, 'I May Destroy You'.

Friend of AIM and short-form video platform TikTok will be in conversation with AIM Member Cooking Vinyl, exploring sync-crossover case studies within TikTok, how labels and artists can engage with sync opportunities on the platform, and TikTok's approach to music in 2021.

Ever-popular listening sessions will give attendees the chance to be a fly on the wall and hear how and why supervisors would place certain tracks, as well as what would prevent them from doing so. Attendees can then use this knowledge when pitching their own repertoire for future opportunities.

Following their successful introduction last year, the AIM Sync Awards will be presented at the end of the event to shine a spotlight on the use of independent music and artists in the sync and brand landscape, with the categories 'Independent Sync of the Year' and 'Music Supervisor of the Year'. Check out the nominees here.

Finally, every ticket-holder will be sent a copy of AIM's newly updated Sync Guide, the sync bible bursting with expert knowledge and practical information which usually costs £50.

All tickets are completely free for AIM Members and £50 for non-members. Don't forget to sign up at aimsync.co.uk!

AIM thanks its Annual Platinum Partners – Facebook, Merlin and PPL – whose support makes its annual programme possible, as well as event partners Guild of Music Supervisors and Ivors Academy, who help to place the event and its programming at the heart of the music supervision world.
